
Dr. Mengjie Yu

Mengjie Yu obtained his Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. degrees in Fishery Science from the Ocean University of China. He is currently conducting postdoctoral research at the College of Aquaculture, Ocean University of China. His primary research focuses on selective fishing gear and methods, fish ethology, and ghost fishing, with a commitment to improving the selectivity of fishing gear and reducing bycatch. He has published over 30 papers in domestic and international academic journals. Currently, his research interests focus on the fish welfare of capture fisheries, specifically, the stress factors affecting fish welfare during capture processes and the behavioural and physiological response mechanisms of fish. He also explores the role of eco-friendly fishing gear and methods in enhancing fish welfare, including improving fish quality and reducing discard mortality.
